3 things to do in Johannesburg

as a tourist

Hmm so you're thinking of coming to Johannesburg, South Africa... Are you feeling kind of stuck on what to do? Or are you not too sure where to start? Fear not! The Honest Guide has your back, and this time I'm giving you 3 tips on what you could possibly do upon your arrival in #Joburg!

1. Go to a safari at the Kruger National Park

Pros: The Kruger National Park is absolutely beautiful to witness. You get to see the wild life just be, without any sort of constraints. You also get to see them really up-close (obviously, please don't exit your vehicle 😅). If you're lucky you may witness something super unique that you would only see in Animal Planet.

Cons: A bit risky if you're going just by car without a guide, but I guess this is more of a suggestion than a con lol.

The standard daily conservation fee for International travellers is the following:

Adults: ZAR 440 = 34.53 CAD

Children under 12:  ZAR 220 = 17.26 CAD

They do have various packes to choose from such as a family package, make sure to check out their website for more info on their packages!

2. Go to Montecasino

Pros: The best way to describe Montecasino is the perfect spot for leisure activities for the mass, and a timeless casino for those 18+. Honestly, from the movie theatres, hotels restaurants, casinos, occasional events and parades. I truly don't think I ever got bored whenever I went here! There is literally so much to do in one location.

Cons: From the themed ceilings covered in lights, to the fact that there are barely any windows, it is nearly impossible to tell the time in there if you're not checking your phone 24/7! This is especially tricky when you're in the casino, you completely lose track of time.

The pricing varies greatly on what you decide to do. Please check out their website for more info on that!

3. Eat, eat, and eat some moreee

Carnivore

69 Drift Blvd, Estate, Muldersdrift, South Africa

Pros: The food is really good! There's also so much variety since it's different types of meat, the environment is super lively, and you honestly get super full 😭

Cons: Usually really packed, and it may take a while for the food to get to you. Also, it will be tough for you to find anything if you're vegan/vegeterian.

Price Range: $$
